This month is running by super fast!!

Geez this month is flying by!!

I am trying to catch up!! Running all the miles EVERY SINGLE DAY has me super tired when I am home!

I really have LOVED this streak though! I have never done one before and have always wanted too!

Luckily I have my friend Kim doing it with me! I am not sure I would have stuck with it otherwise!

In addition to the runs we plank each day and I am at a 2:30 plank after my runs!! Feeling strong!

Monday 1/14 we ran 1 mile and walked 2 with our cute little pups!

Tuesday 1/15 has become a speedier day for me. We ran three miles!

Wednesday 1/16 we run hills.... Or so I thought! We also try to bust out this run a bit faster if we can. Kim decided that we would start doing "real" hill work on Thursday!

Thursday 1/17 we ran 1 block hill repeats! Up across, down, over, back up, across, down, over, back up... 9 times!!! Oh my quad!!! What doesn't kill you makes you stronger!

Friday 1/18 we ran EASY. We do intervals and take it easy.

Saturday 1/19 was the Hot Chocolate 15K.

Sunday 1/20 we ran six miles through town followed by a plan of course!

Monday 1/21 was super cold but we got bundled up and got in our run! Monday's we run 1 mile and walk 2 miles. Monday's are our "rest" days but we are running the first mile to keep the streak alive!

Tuesday 1/22 we speed it up a bit again and ran three miles at our local park.

Wednesday  1/23 we ran our roller coaster route again.

Thursday 1/24 we did our hill repeats and I DID NOT DIE even though I though I might lol! My picture does not do this mega incline justice and no we didn't run down it... We run UP it!

Friday 1/25 we went easy again with intervals. (We totally forgot to get a pic of anything but our planks)

Saturday 1/26 Kim and I ran 20 miles!!!! TWENTY!!! I am constantly in disbelief that I can even do that! I love these legs that carry me through it!! Even though I begged and pleaded for Kim to go get the car those last two miles I feel completely invincible after were done! Brandi join us for the first bit of this run too which was fun!

Sunday 1/27 we ran 7 miles and it was incredible! Saturday night I though there is no way I can do this run but then I did and I felt amazing!

I have modified a Dopey Challenge Training Plan and that is what we are following. It recommends some speed work, some hill work and two long runs each week. Ideally we'd do the half marathon training run on Saturday and the full marathon training run on Sunday but that would make it impossible to get home and showered and to church on time so we have swapped the two. Hopefully the effect will be the same. I feel confident that I could go out today and run the half it's running the full on tired legs that we have to prepare for.

Running every day has helped my legs feel tired that's for sure lol!

This week is already off to a great start with our Monday morning run/walk and Tuesday we hit the track! This super cold weather might throw a wrench in our plans this week. We will see!

I can hardly believe the month is nearly over, it seems we just got started!

Elizabeth and I are running a fun race this weekend! Stay tuned for my recap of the fun that is sure to ensue!

Wishing you a happy week and many happy miles!

Hot Chocolate 15K Charlotte Race Recap ~ January 19, 2019

I had THE most fun at the Hot Chocolate 15K in Charlotte this past weekend!!

I have participated in the Atlanta Races twice before and fell immediately in love with these races. Charlotte did not disappoint!

I have been looking forward to this event for weeks!

I was a little undecided on what exactly I would wear and so I laid out my options (as always) the night before.

2018 was the first year for the Hot Chocolate in Charlotte and I did not run it so I was super excited to run it this year! Charlotte is much more convenient for me!

I managed to convince Elizabeth kind of last minute to run the race and so she and I car pooled down and met up with Kim and John at the race!

We left town at 5 and arrived about 7:15 having made one stop along the way! One thing none of us thought about was parking and paying to park. Next year I will need to remember to bring cash!

The weather was great! Not too cold, not too hot. I wore a Skirt Sports Skirt, long sleeve Nike shirt under my BibRave shirt, Crazy Compression Socks, my Brooks Cascadia and my BibRave Hat! I carried my Nathan handheld and had my Aftershokz Treks Airs too!

I met up with my fellow BibRave Pros which was fun! This was my first time racing with BibRave and while I feel like I know these guys I have only met them online so meeting them off line was a treat!

We then jumped in line for the porta potties and then warmed up a bit with another friend Tami!

Just before the race start we headed down and got into our corals and then we were off!!

The course was great! Very well marked and even better manned than I could recall! I love participating in races that are so well supported. It felt like there was an officer ever 1/4 mile or more. In addition there were other volunteers along the course and lots of families that came out to cheer on the runners! We ran through a couple of neighborhoods, main roads and a short section of greenway so that was fun!

The aid stations were awesome! I didn't stop at all of them but I saw one with Gummy Bears, one with Chocolate and one with Marshmallows (yum)! The stations also had Nuun and Water. I tend to carry Nuun so I go for the water usually!

In my training I have been trying hard to work on my mental toughness. I have been working on sprinting to the end of my training runs when I can see the finishing point. I struggle in races with this. I get a mile away and feel great then as I get closer it's like my brakes go on and I. Can. Not. Move. One. Foot. In. Front. Of. The. Other. UGGGGG. I saw the 400M sign and suddenly felt like I was miles and miles away. Sheesh!! Must do more work on this!!!

I managed to conjure up some strength and push to the finish! I bettered my previous 15k times and completed in 1:39!

I am delighted with my time! (But I know I could have done even better lol)

After the race we got our medals cheered in some other runners and then ventured into First Ward Park to get our Hot Chocolate!!

The park was full of things to see and do!! There was a cute spot to take a pic with your time, lots of fun giveaways including sport beans, All State Beanies, etc. There was a gear store, several fun photo ops and loads and loads of chocolate!

The medals, as always, were the best!!! Who doesn't love a medal shaped like a chocolate bar???

I absolutely love these races!!! I am already looking forward to running again next year!

Be sure to check out my review on and see my results on Athlinks!!

Hot Chocolate hosts races all across the country!! Check them out and find one near you!! Maybe I will see you there!!

Ramping up the miles for the Hot Chocolate 15K Charlotte

Disclaimer: I received free entry to the Hot Chocolate 15K Charlotte race as part of being a BibRave Pro. Learn more about becoming a BibRave Pro (ambassador), and check out to review find and write race reviews!

I am getting super excited about this weekends Hot Chocolate 15K! Despite having some weird leg issues I got in a run each day!  I feel certain my leg troubles are the result of simply over working them.

Lately I have been running all the miles and then staying up on my feet all day and night between work and then working on our house!

I really want to be sure to protect my legs so I did decide to scale back a bit taking my runs easier than normal and scaling back mileage over the weekend.

Run Streak Day 10, Thursday 1/10, with three miles! Taking it easy on my legs.

On Friday 1/11 I got in a three mile run, it was 23 degrees and this was my run streak day 11!

Saturday 1/12 I had planned on 19 miles but my legs had me worried and so I decided on a 10 mile run.

On Sunday we had some winter weather so I waited to run until 11! We had a super cute runner with us this time! Pushing a jogging stroller is no joke! I admire all you mother runners who do that on the daily!

Despite having an off week and going easy I wanted to keep the "Run Every Day January" streak alive and so I did!

I also continued the "Plank Every Day" Challenge and finished my runs strong with a plank!

I am feeling a bit better and my swelling has subsided. I plan to have a normal week this coming week and hope to have an awesome race weekend!!
