The Great Smoky Mountain National Park is a great place to visit. The Smokies are located between North Carolina and Tennessee and a visit to the area will submerse you in Southern Appalachian Culture. The area offers an assortment of activities for everyone, camping and backpacking, hiking, fishing, cycling, picnicking, sightseeing, etc. I would recommend a long weekend or a week long vacation to this area so that you can experience all there is to enjoy! There are quaint towns located nearby with great shopping and additional sightseeing.
Elk were reintroduced to the Great Smoky Mountains in 2001. It is believed that the last elk in the area was in the late 1700. A short drive through the Smokies and you are guaranteed a once in a life time experience! These photos were taken in late fall but the elk can be seen year round and just about any time of the day.
Cades Cove is nestled nearby and is another great place to visit with vast wildlife and rich history!
We feel so lucky to live nearby these amazing places! Beauty surrounds us! We love sharing our favorite places and hope you will have an opportunity to visit The Great Smoky Mountains soon!
